This class is beneficial for anyone considering starting a candlemaking business, giving you the tools to go away and start the experimenting you will need to do to make your business a success.
The workshop is held in a studio located in the stunning village of Lavenham, a medieval wool town, with stunning chocolate box cottages and independent shops.
This course focuses on the art of soy wax candle making, but does include a brief foray into paraffin wax.
It includes an introduction to materials, waxes/wicks/cores and containers. We cover the description of commonly used waxes, how to measure the correct quantities, perfume and their effects, pour temperatures and how to fix surface problems. The course will also explain the recent legislation changes and the CLP information that is required in order to sell your candles.
During the workshop, you will make and take away with you, 1 x 100g tin, 1 x 250g glass, 1 x 3 wick candle, wax melts, and 6 x paraffin wax, botanical/Christmas hangings. These are valued at over £65.00
A maximum of 4 students is allowed.
Why not combine your visit to Lavenham with an afternoon tea at the stunning Swan in the High Street. Definitely allow some time to have a meander around this medieval village whilst you’re here.
WHAT TO BRING:
Just yourself, and if you have already started making, a list of queries/problems you may be experiencing. Wear sensible footwear and bring a pad/pen for taking notes.
What a great course - I learned so much about the art of candlemaking thanks to Jo and had a lot of fun along the way. Who knew wax has a memory?! We came back laden with beautifully scented candles of various sizes as well as melts and much more. Jo's knowledge and enthusiasm is infectious and she's inspired me to have a go at making my own candles. Her workshop is in Lavenham which is a great spot to explore afterward too.
A highly recommended candle making course in an exquisite setting in Suffolk. Jo is a great teacher, very friendly, passionate and very knowledgeable about her craft. My friend and I had a lovely morning making candles which we’ve been using with pride. A super lunch was also provided. 10/10.
I’ve just attended this course for the second time!! An absolutely amazing course! Friendly teacher, easy to follow instructions, great lunch and come away with a massive bundle of candles beautifully presented. I will be booking a third class. Thank you Jo!!!
My daughter Charlotte and I did the candle making course and we had such a lovely day. Jo is very informative and we had lots of scents to choose from. She explained things well and we made some gorgeous candles to take home with us. The setting is lovely and relaxed and the lunch we had provided was really lovely. Can not recommend highly enough. Thanks so much
Jo is very friendly and knowledgeable. Great surroundings and excellent materials. Lunch was yummy. I had a great day, learnt loads and took some gorgeous candles home. I would highly recommend this course. It would make a fantastic present.
Such a fantastic day. Really enjoyed the course. Jo really engaged with us and made the course so much fun. Highly recommend it. The candles are lovely and burn really well, lovely fragrances. Lunch was scrummy too.
Since discovering Jo’s candles i have not purchased any other brand as i just love everything about hers. They burn fab and smell devine! The course was such fun and jo kindly purchased extra oils of a scent she no longer makes just for me and my friend. Fab course, lovely lunch and want to do it all again!
We attended Jo’s candle making course on 8th Feb and had the most wonderful time. We made a fabulous array of candles & melts of different sizes and fragrances under her tutelage and came away feeling fully confident to make our own. Jo is very welcoming and we also got to meet her utterly adorable 10 week old puppy Blossom. I thoroughly recommend this course whether you are looking to start a business or just do this for pleasure like us.
Attended the candle making course, only two "students" and Jo, and we had an amazing day. Not only did we learn how to make candles but also the legalisation concerning the selling of the products. The puppy was adorable
I attended Jo’s course yesterday. It was fantastic. It was so interesting learning about the different waxes and how they react to the environment when melted. I loved the variety of essential oils that I was able to choose from for my candles. Can’t recommend this course enough. Going to revisit later in the year. Thank you so much Jo for a wonderful day.
I'm sure you don't realise about the 'other side' of your course, yes they learn all about the process and get to bring home the most wonderful smelling bundles of wax joy, but it does so much for their inner self an absolute soul lifter.
